Christmas Party, December 2015

Christmas Caroling, December 2015

Tim Mayberry's Ordination as Deacon, June 7, 2015

Tim’s ordination was a wonderful and joyous event. We were blessed to have Bishop David with us to perform the ceremony and Fr. Cass’ sermon which was directed at Tim will undoubtedly be of great help to him as he takes on his responsibilities as a Deacon and eventually a priest. Congratulations, Tim!

Please click here to see more photos of this happy event! Thanks to the parishioners who submitted their photos.

Outreach Project, Mother's Day, May 10,2015

The church undertook a project to assemble Mother's Day Love Baskets for clients of the Hope Women's Center in Davie. These are women who have chosen to keep their babies rather than aborting them! These “Love Baskets” contained items such as hand and body lotion, baby lotion, a gift card to Target or Walmart, a hair brush & comb set, a “New Mom” Christian Devotional & whatever else the parishioner might think of including. The object was not to create ‘expensive’ baskets – but, rather baskets of Christian love. In the basket was also be a message: “With love, and our prayers, from The Anglican Church of the Word” (no other identification needed). See the finished products below.

Easter Sunday Apr 5, 2015

The children of the church put on their bunny ears and sang praises to Jesus for the congregation. Later, eggs (and their treasures inside) were found all over the church property. See pictures of the egg hunt on the Sunday School page. What a wonderful day! And, as always, thanks to Miss Jenny for her work with the children. Whatever would we do without you?

Daly Baptism, Feb 22, 2015

On February 22nd, we joyously welcomed little Gabrielle Carmon Daly (parents: Melanie Helen Ball and Jason Karl Daly) into the family of God. The Daly family came south from Canada for the occasion, bringing joy to the hearts of Gabrielle's Grandparents, Karl Daly and Shirley Daly of the Church of the Word. The ceremony also included the Godparents, Caroline Lucille Ball and Donovan Earl Daly.  Welcome, Gabrielle Carmon.

Thanks to Margaret Hesford for taking the photos.

Valentine's Day - 2015

Miss Jenny made a giant chocolate chip cookie for our Sunday School kids to enjoy in class, while they worked on a surprise for Fr Cass. They all marched down the aisle with their "GOD IS LOVE" banner and presented their big Valentine card to ACOW and Fr Cass.

Another special Thank You to Jenny for providing the writeup, help with the editing, and all that you do for our beloved church.

Epiphany Party - Jan 20, 2015

We celebrated Epiphany with a party on January 10th 2015. It was a joyful celebration, overflowing with merriment and a ton of delicious food. Brent provided the music with the assistance of Gordon and Sebastian.

After stuffing (taking our fill) ourselves with the voluptuous spread and endless desserts, we were visited by the Three Wise Men - Michael B, Michael H, and John M, who brought their gifts for all to see, while serenaded to the tune of "We Three Kings".

Our Junior Sunday School kids performed an Epiphany Puppet Play much to the delight and laughter of all the adults. See the Sunday School page for still shots of Miss Jenny's adorable movie of the Puppet Show (unfortunately too large to post here). As well, our teens with the leadership of Pastor Jim riddled us with corny Christmas jokes.

The evening entertainment ended with a unique version of the 12 Days of Christmas, every verse being sung by each group around each of the tables. All verses had to be illustrated with energetic imagination. The best illustration had to be the teen boys who did a dainty job of pirouetting to "Nine ladies dancing". ACOW did a wonderful job of celebrating our Lord's Birthday!!

Special thanks to Ginger for taking all these photos, and to Jenny for the write-up and choosing the very best to share with you all. Click here to view the album of 30 photos. Enjoy.

Children of the Church

We all enjoyed the angelic singing of our children on Sunday January 4, 2015. We thank God for the blessings of these children.
